Point of sale for Cyprus retail and hospitality
Tetrapos brings checkout, stock and day-to-day sales operations into one point-of-sale system for shops, cafés, restaurants and other customer-facing businesses. It can support a quick counter sale, a multi-outlet retailer or a restaurant where an order moves from a table to the kitchen and back to the cashier. Tetramatrix configures the system around the way your staff sell, serve and reconcile transactions, then connects the hardware and payment services your operation needs.
Retail checkout and product control
At the counter, staff can find products by name, SKU, internal ID or barcode and add simple or variable products with their categories and attributes. A sale can include a selected customer, notes, service fees and discounts. Authorised staff can adjust prices, while role-based rules control who can apply discounts or access particular functions. Carts can be held and resumed, which helps when a customer needs time or a cashier must switch to another transaction. A sale can also be paid using more than one tender, such as a combination of cash and card, where the configured payment methods allow it.
Product and stock tools cover categories and subcategories, outlet-level quantities, suppliers, purchasing and receiving stock. Staff can request or transfer stock between locations and record when goods have been received, accepted or rejected. Price lists can support purchase and sale price updates, while cost-of-goods records, batch duration and product status controls help keep purchasing and inventory information useful. Products or categories can be hidden from a particular POS view where they should not be sold at that counter. Depending on the online-store arrangement, locations can share a unified stock quantity or maintain separate outlet inventory. Stock allocated to a location can also be considered when fulfilling online orders.
Table service, kitchen and order flow
For cafés and restaurants, the configured service can start with a basic pay-first checkout or follow a traditional table-based flow. Staff can manage tables and reservations, take or update an order from a waiter screen, add modifiers or extras, record tips and send the order to the kitchen. During service, authorised staff can add or remove items from an active order, add notes, cancel an order or send a message to another station. A kitchen view can show incoming orders and their progress through preparation and ready states, with reasons recorded when an order cannot be accepted. A cashier view completes the payment and close-out steps. Table QR codes can help customers reach the relevant table or ordering flow when that module is enabled.
Order tokens and customer-facing displays can make collection and order status clearer. The precise screens and hand-offs are configured for the service style: counter collection, table service or a combination. This lets a team use consistent order records without forcing every business into the same kitchen or cashier routine.
Online orders and resilience when a connection drops
Where a compatible online store is in place, staff can view incoming ecommerce orders at the POS and update fulfilment status. Product, stock and order synchronisation can be configured to match how the business sells online and in person. Some deployments can use real-time updates where the required service is selected and configured; others use scheduled synchronisation.
Local order entry can continue during an internet interruption and recorded transactions can synchronise after connectivity returns. This supports continuity for the order-taking workflow, but online services such as card authorisation still rely on the relevant connection and payment provider. We agree and test the recovery procedure, including how staff identify queued orders and resolve any sync exceptions.
Payments and Cyprus gateway implementation
The POS can use configured payment methods, including cash, card and other tender types, and can support split or multi-tender payments. Tetramatrix can connect Tetrapos to payment gateways used in Cyprus, including JCC, Viva Wallet, payabl., VPayments and PBT. We can also assess and implement another payment gateway. The exact approach depends on the provider’s API and approval process, access to the merchant account, terminal hardware and the provider’s technical requirements. We confirm the integration path before promising a particular checkout flow; gateway availability is not assumed to be identical for every merchant or device.
Receipts, cash control and reporting
Receipt and invoice templates can carry your business branding, selected transaction details and custom fields. Printing can be manual or automatic, with silent printing available in compatible setups. Common receipt widths such as 80 mm, tax summaries, QR codes and barcodes can be configured for the relevant printer and document workflow. We test the chosen printer and browser combination because device support varies.
Cash drawer operations can record opening and closing activity, the counter and user, and the time of each event; logs can be downloaded for review. Setups can support multiple drawers and safes, drawer logs and till balances. End-of-day reporting can show sales by payment method, expected cash and total sales to support reconciliation, with monthly account summaries available for wider review. Dashboards and reports can help managers review daily performance, product and top-seller results, customers and staff activity.
Scanning, devices and access
Products can be searched and scanned using identifiers such as GTIN, UPC, EAN and ISBN where relevant. A compatible mobile device camera can scan barcodes, and product barcodes can be generated and printed with business branding. Table codes and QR workflows can support service and ordering, while order invoices can include QR or barcode details where useful.
The interface is designed for supported desktop, tablet and mobile browsers and can use existing compatible equipment. Depending on the setup, staff can use keyboard shortcuts, an on-screen calculator, configurable colours, a customer display and a desktop application option. Multiple interface languages and right-to-left layouts are available for supported languages. User roles, location-specific staff access and outlet tax settings help align each counter with the people and rules for that location. Staff and managers can use configured notices and messages to coordinate between stations. A REST API can support integrations with other business tools when the connected system exposes the required data and permissions.
Optional customer ordering and loyalty modules
Businesses that want customers to serve themselves can add a self-service kiosk or customer ordering experience where the relevant module is selected. Customer ordering can be configured for dine-in, collection or delivery workflows. Coupon, voucher and rewards features, customer forms, custom fields, email notifications and welcome messages can also be enabled where appropriate. These options are assessed separately so the chosen package, devices and operating process are clear before launch.
Implementation by Tetramatrix
We begin by mapping your products, locations, staff roles, tax settings, payment methods and sales process. Then we configure the retail or restaurant workflows, review online-store synchronisation, connect the agreed gateways and check printers, scanners, drawers and terminals. Where records are being moved from an existing process, we map fields and validate sample product and stock data before the full import. Staff receive practical training on checkout, exceptions, closing and reporting, with operating notes for routine tasks. The goal is a dependable POS setup that fits your business in Cyprus and gives you a clear route for future integrations.
